Some of the self-commands

Defining something is the first step to achieving it. Overtime I have made some self-commands - these are of course work in progress ( always will be !) and only some of them.

I will choose 'fearless' over 'popular'
I will follow my heart and value my 'values'
I will live my life according to those values
I will admire people who are worth it
I will be careful of energy vampires
I will watch myself when I am jealous and take myself out of that place almost instantly
I will pay genuine compliments anywhere and everywhere I feel someone is deserving
I will freely admit I am wrong
I will not stop questioning the status quo and thinking deeper
I will surround myself with inspirational people
I will cut down on 'social friends' and choose to be with the real ones
I will choose 'right' over 'safe'
I won't whine and cry but choose to do something to resolve
I won't seek external motivation but seek it internally
I won't stay put - I won't stagnate

There is a world out there...

There's a world out there and I wanna be in itI got a life and I'm gonna live it
Don't tell me the sky's the limit
There's footprints on the moon
I wanna do my walkin' down the road less traveled
Sew my dreams where they won't unravel
If you play it safe you won't get nowhere
I can't stay in here when there's a world out there

~ Lyrics by Paul Brandt

I love this song for its lyrics - Don't you ?

Multi-cultural Multi-coloured society

The beauty of living in a multicultural society is that you learn so much from different cultures and it helps you to become a better person. I learned the importance of knowing the art of living life, love for water and wine from Australians, poise in daily life from Japanese, inseparable family bonds from Greeks and Italians, their love for food is inspiring too.

Several of my interests have unsurfaced due to exposure to the different people from different walks of life and I think it's extremely enriching.

I learned things like how one gets inspired from music and create some extraordinary versions of food dishes, how one can lose a limb to shark and still go in water again to pursue their true passion, I learned how people can spend their whole life perfecting that boat or plane that they started building from scratch, how people finally make it after several knock-backs, how love is shared with people from all walks of life and how to embrace differences, and truly how to live everyday and realizing what's really important in life.

With the gorgeous sunlight trying to peek in my lounge room, I enjoy my banana cake in this moment....and ponder over how lucky I am to be surrounded with these lovely people who I share my precious life with.

What a great day today is (that was...)

Such a beautiful day
Leaves are drenched
Flowers had their royal bath
Roads are paved with diamond drops
Sun is forced to tuck in for a while
Time for a hot coffee ( chocolate for some ! ;) )
Some people watching
Take a mini break
Yes go out of your office
Take your pen and paper with you
Watch outside
Be at peace
Rest a little
Work and dream what a great day today is.

A combination to die for...

"If coffee is my spinach, then sunlight is my kryptonite."
-- Veronica Belmont

...and I agree. ;)

There is nothing better than sipping coffee under the sun...marvelling over the beauty of the nature.

Where are you going to have a coffee today ?

On another note - I am simply excited to have found one of my favourite pendants which I have had for years. I love that blue colour.....

Spend a moment to thank...

I love reading " Don't sweat the small stuff ". This book has nothing that we don't know already but hey we all need a reminder. This book often brings me back to the basics of living a good life....and one of the precious lessons of pride, confidence and satisfaction I have found is to "Thank" people.

Feel it, Say it, Think it. It takes only a moment...

Savour life

I plan to savour, really savour my meals today. Do you ?
It's my effort to remain in present and start savouring life more.

Miles before I sleep...

I have loved this poem by Robert Frost since childhood. I remember having a poster of this poem in my room....It gives hope, courage, motivation, energy and realisation.

and I am remembering it again today....

“The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.”

So many things on my mind..

so many thoughts running through my mind,
it's hard to keep my secret within now,
the love running in my veins,
and the moments passing by,
they all whispered in my ears,
live it up
live it up.

---------

....and an excerpt from the book 'Namesake' below:

"Ashoke Ganguli: Aray Baba, the camera! It is in the car. All this with no picture, huh? You just have to remember it then. Will you remember this day Gogol?

Gogol: How long do you I to remember it?

Ashoke Ganguli: Remember it always. Remember that you and I made this journey and went together to a place where there was nowhere left to go."

Italy..

.......is what I am dreaming of. August 2010 - can you come any sooner ?

I read a quote the other day - The use of travelling is to regulate imagination by reality, and instead of thinking how things may be, to see them as they are. - Samuel Johnson

Such a good lesson for life. To see things as they are.

Fresh Roses and The Mango Season

I have been reading "The Mango Season" lately and this book would bring up lots of memories for many Indians. India is loaded with hundreds of different types of mangoes, everywhere. The author picks up small nuances of Indian families and eating mangoes, all at the same time....beautiful, light hearted and gives a sense of culture and marriages in India....and all mingled with the taste and juiciness of  mangoes.
